Utility Cover Surveillance Keep a Lid on Vandalism and Theft
The Utility Cover Surveillance (UCS) System:
Provides around-the-clock monitoring of manholes, handholes and access panels. The system uses patented Fiber Fence Technology to provide:Open Cover Alerts:
UCS signals an alert whenever a manhole or other utility cover is opened, showing security personnel the exact location of the open cover on a map displayed on a computer monitor.Anti-Spark Optical Technology:
The mechanical detection mechanism, called Cover Cop, is a hermetically sealed sensor that does not use electricity. It can't spark an explosion in underground utilities where combustible gases may be present.Fail-Safe Protection:
UCS is a fiber optic security system that is virtually impossible to disarm.Fail-Safe Technology:
Fiber optic sensing cable cannot be cut or bypassed without detection.Easy Installation:
The installer simply attaches the Cover Cop sensor at each entry location. Fiber optic cable is then used to daisy chain the covers together, running the cable through the utility corridor to a central monitoring location. Because optical fiber is lightweight, resistant to water, and immune to electromagnetic interference, it can be strapped to existing electrical cable or pipes, using minimum mounting hardware.
